In India, about 89 million children are anaemic, and it is more than 70 per cent in children aged between 6 months to 5 years. Symptoms of anaemia are pale, yellow skin, pale cheeks and lips, irritability, weakness, fatigue, napping more frequently. Anaemia can be diagnosed with the help of blood tests and a routine physical examination. Deficiency of iron is a common cause of anaemia. Choose foods that are a rich in iron like grains and cereals, egg yolks, red meats, potatoes, tomatoes and raisins.
